Job Summary
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering employee benefits programs including medical, dental, life, disability, FSA, HSA, 401(k), and other benefit products. This role manages the day-to-day operations of employee benefit programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective communication of plan provisions to employees.
Education & Experience (Required)

High school diploma or GED.

3+ years of experience in employee benefits administration, including direct work with employees or customers to resolve issues.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.

Experience with HRIS and payroll systems.

CEBS certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong analytical and mathematical skills; ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret graphs.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to create and maintain documents, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to train others, collaborate across departments, and present information to management.

Ability to solve routine and moderately complex issues by applying established procedures and clear direction.

Self-directed with the ability to set goals and manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
Essential Job Duties

Administer day-to-day functions of employee benefit plans, ensuring timely processing of documentation.

Coordinate benefit plan funding, billing, audits, and reconciliations.

Ensure regulatory compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA/ADA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.

Administer Qualified National Medical Support Notices.

Partner with benefit vendors to maintain accurate employee eligibility, billing, and reconciliation.

Collaborate with payroll, HRIS, and other departments to monitor and report benefits data.

Support reporting and audits as required.

Provide Tier 2 support for benefit-related requests through an HCM ticketing system.

Assist employees with benefits-related questions and claims, ensuring timely resolution.

Maintain administrative manuals, records, and benefits databases to ensure compliance with plan documents and regulations.

Coordinate with providers to ensure proper administration of all benefit programs, including data transfers.

Manage ACA reporting for annual tracking.

Perform other duties as assigned.
